Co-motion: a  mission statement

In the Midlands of Ireland, access to quality arts practise for young people can be limited, particularly for those who live in a rural area. Co-motion aims to to inspire young people to participate in contemporary arts by providing a dedicated youth festival focused on the region. Film is the most popular art form and since the digital revolution it is now accesible to anyone with a camera and computer.  Co-Motion wishes to inspire young people to be less passive, less couch potato and more passionate power-house.

The Film Festival provides a public platform for talented young people to express themselves and an opportunity for their peers to see what they can do. Co-Motion believes in film as a powerful medium for young people to give voice to their ideas and talents.

The Co-motion team consists of Fiona MacGinty, (cinematographer, director and long-term youth arts practitioner), Kevin O’Neill, (media designer) Aishling Muller (photographer, media arts co-ordinator), Manchán Magan, (writer, documentary maker)

We are funded by Westmeath Co Council's Art Office, the Arts Council of Ireland and supported by Belvedere House.
